The Greek Blue Mission Med HUB organized a groundbreaking demonstration of the Coastal Marine Litter Observation #CMLO system at Skalosia beach in Greece, to support the EU Missionoceanwaters Implementation. This event marked a pivotal moment, showcasing the synergy between the Scidrones IKE and the Marine Litter scientific group of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research – HCMR.

Developed by Scidrones IKE, a Greek spin-off of the University of the Aegean – Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, the CMLO system harnesses the power of drone data and machine learning algorithms to swiftly identify, classify, and quantify #beachlitter. 🛰️ This innovative technology promises to transform how we approach #marinelitter monitoring and management.

The demonstration was not just about showcasing cutting-edge technology; it was about exploring the potential of integrating CMLO into the Greek MSFD monitoring program for Descriptor 10: Marine Litter.
